Now a good way off from them was a herd of many swine feeding.

He who kills a bull is as if he kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as if he breaks a dog’s neck; he who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood; he who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol. They have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations;

the pig, though it does have a divided hoof (that is, split-hoofed), yet it does not chew the cud, is unclean to you;

“Do not give what is holy to the dogs, nor throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn around and attack you.

And behold, they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

So the demons begged Him, saying, “If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine.”

Now there was a great herd of swine feeding near the mountains.

There was a large herd of swine feeding on the mountain. They begged Him to permit them to enter them, and He permitted them.

The pig is unclean to you because it divides the hoof, yet it does not chew the cud. You must not eat of their flesh or touch their dead carcass.
