And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing. But if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is obligated.’

If a man vows a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself with a bond, he will not break his word. He will do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

“Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing. But if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’

You blind fools! Which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

You blind fools! Which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, “It is Corban,” that is to say, “What you would have profited from me is a gift to God,” he shall be free.’

I testify again to every man who is circumcised that he is obligated to keep the whole law.
