All this was done to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying:
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! And cry aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; he is righteous and able to deliver, he is humble and riding on a donkey, a colt, the offspring of a donkey.
Now all this occurred to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet, saying,
If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them.’ And he will send them immediately.”
But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.
They brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments on it. And He sat upon it.
They brought it to Jesus. And they threw their garments on the colt, and they set Jesus on it.
On the next day a great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
“Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt.”
