They refused to obey and were not mindful of Your wonders that You performed among them. But they hardened their necks and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return to their bondage. But You are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in kindness, and did not forsake them.

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.

But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them. He often restrained His anger, and did not stir up all His wrath;

But You, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abundant in mercy and truth.

For You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in mercy to all who call on You.

How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboyim? My heart churns within Me; My compassion is stirred.

“But that same servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe.’

“Then his master, after he had summoned him, said to him, ‘O you wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt, because you pleaded with me.

When they had no money to pay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”

Simon answered, “I suppose he whom he forgave more.” He said to him, “You have judged rightly.”

They removed the foreign gods from among them and worshipped the Lord, and He could no longer endure the suffering of Israel.
