Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from You.”
For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Others, testing Him, asked Him for a sign from heaven.
When the crowds pressed upon Him, He began to say, “This is an evil generation. It looks for a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

Therefore they said to Him, “What sign do You show then, that we may see and believe You? What work will You perform?
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom.
