Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, on Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will enter his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

He shall feed His flock like a shepherd; He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place and also with him who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

I will seek that which was lost and bring back that which was driven away and bind up that which was broken and will strengthen that which was sick. But I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will feed them with judgment.

And when Moses heard that, he approved.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

As they departed, Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;

Now thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph in Christ and through us reveals the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

So on the contrary, you ought to forgive him and comfort him, lest perhaps he might be swallowed up with excessive sorrow.

And I looked, and behold, there before me was a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow. And a crown was given to him, and he went forth conquering that he might overcome.
