When He had called the people to Him, with His disciples, He said to them, “If any man would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.

Those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in my body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

By this we know the love of God: that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

But My servant Caleb, because he had a different spirit with him and followed Me fully, I will bring him into the land where he went, and his seed will possess it.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

to know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified with Him.

Then He said to them all, “If anyone will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Therefore put to death the parts of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

But what things were gain to me, I have counted these things to be loss for the sake of Christ.

Therefore, since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

God forbid that I should boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with Him, so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we should no longer be slaves to sin.

So likewise, any of you who does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

knowing that soon I will take off this body, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me.

But rejoice insofar as you share in Christ’s sufferings, so that you may rejoice and be glad also in the revelation of His glory.

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, righteously, and in godliness in this present world,

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake and fill up in my flesh that which is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church.

strengthening the minds of the disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith, to go through many afflictions and thus enter the kingdom of God.

When Jesus heard this, He said to him, “Yet you lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow Me.”

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate. For many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.

As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. This man they compelled to bear His cross.

Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tried, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Therefore let us go forth to Him outside the camp, bearing the reproach that He bore.

For we hear that there are some among you who live in idleness, mere busybodies, not working at all.

For though I am free from all men, I have made myself servant to all, that I might win even more.

Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I cause my brother to stumble.

He went out, carrying His own cross, to a place called The Place of a Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha.

Then as all the people heard, He said to His disciples,

Then Jesus, looking upon him, loved him and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, take up the cross and follow Me.”

When He had called all the people to Him, He said, “Listen to Me, every one of you, and understand:
