When the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”

When the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

As Jesus was at supper in his house, many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples. For there were many, and they followed Him.

“Why does this Man speak such blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

The Pharisee stood and prayed these things about himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men: extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against His disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

There was a great outcry. The scribes that were from the sect of Pharisees stood up and argued, “We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.”

But he who is spiritual judges all things. Yet he himself is not judged by anyone.

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and your hearts give up.
