Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable member of the Council, who also waited for the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly to Pilate, and requested the body of Jesus.

But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

“So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few are chosen.”

When the evening came, there came a rich man of Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus.

Peter followed Him at a distance into the courtyard of the high priest. He sat with the guards and warmed himself by the fire.

Pilate wondered if He were already dead. And calling for the centurion, he asked him whether He had been dead for a while.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

Coming at that moment she gave thanks to the Lord and spoke of Him to all those who looked for the redemption of Jerusalem.

Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, who was a good and just man.

He had not consented to their counsel and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, and he himself was also waiting for the kingdom of God.

After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away His body.

But the Jews stirred up the devout and honorable women and the chief men of the city, and raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them from their region.

Therefore many of them believed, including honorable Greek women and many Greek men.

And a great many of the brothers in the Lord, having become confident because of my incarcerations, have dared to speak the word without fear.
