Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head; they are mighty who would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully; what I did not steal, I must now restore.

So Pilate, resolving to satisfy the people, released Barabbas to them. And when he had scourged Jesus, he handed Him over to be crucified.

But they cried out, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”

Then Pilate said to the chief priests and to the people, “I find no fault in this Man.”

And we indeed, justly. For we are receiving the due reward of our deeds. But this Man has done nothing amiss.”

When the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God and said, “Certainly, this was a righteous Man.”

Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” When he had said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, “I find no guilt in Him at all.

When the chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried out, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in Him.”

Though they found in Him no cause worthy of death, yet they asked Pilate to have Him killed.

But when they learned that he was a Jew, for about two hours they all with one voice cried out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”

For such a High Priest was fitting for us, for He is holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and is higher than the heavens.

but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
