But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.” Then he went out to the porch, and a cock crowed.

Peter began to invoke a curse on himself, and to swear, “I do not know this Man of whom you speak.”

Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying.” Immediately, while he was yet speaking, the cock crowed.

And Peter went outside and wept bitterly.

Godly sorrow produces repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
