Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to strike Him, saying to Him, “Prophesy!” And the guards struck Him with the palms of their hands.

They struck His head with a staff and spit on Him. And bowing their knees, they bowed to pay homage to Him.

When He had said this, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Is that how You answer the high priest?”

They said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they hit Him with their hands.

The high priest Ananias ordered those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.

Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
