“Except the Lord shortened the days, no flesh would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.
Unless the Lord of Hosts had left to us a very small remnant, we would have been as Sodom; we would have been like Gomorrah.
But yet in it shall be one-tenth, and it shall return, and shall be burned, as a terebinth tree or as an oak, whose stump remains when it is cut down, so the holy seed is its stump.”
“Unless those days were shortened, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.
For in those days there will be distress as has not been from the beginning of the creation which God created to this time, nor ever shall be.
Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Look, there He is!’ do not believe it.
