Then Jesus said to the crowds and to His disciples,

They love the places of honor at feasts, and the prominent seats in the synagogues,

He said to them in His teaching, “Beware of the scribes, who love to go about in long robes and love greetings in the marketplaces,

who devour widows’ houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive greater condemnation.”
