“Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, the tax collectors and prostitutes enter the kingdom of God before you.

“But the tax collector, standing at a distance, would not even lift his eyes to heaven, but struck his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner.’

When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against His disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking. But you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

One of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. So He went to the Pharisee’s house and sat down for supper.

This was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

So again they called the man who was blind and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this Man is a sinner.”

We know that God does not listen to sinners. But if anyone is a worshipper of God and does His will, He hears him.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.

And we know that the law is not given for a righteous person, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and the profane, for those who kill their fathers and mothers, for murderers,

And “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”
