Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.

Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

And Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. All who hear will laugh with me.”

For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Rivers of water run down from my eyes, because they keep not Your law.

Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice exceedingly with her, all you who mourn for her,

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.

He lifted up His eyes on His disciples, and said: “Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they separate you from their company and insult you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man.

Woe to you who are filled, for you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me shall never hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.

Even to this present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are poorly clothed and beaten and homeless.

in weariness and painfulness, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, and in cold and nakedness.

So I take pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in hardships, in persecutions, and in distresses for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
