The scribes and the Pharisees began to question, “Who is He who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not conceal. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.   Selah

Let them be like chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the Lord drive them away.

Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake, and will not remember your sins.

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and your sins, as a cloud. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.

O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not defer, for Your own sake, O my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him.

Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and the entire congregation shall certainly stone him. The foreigner as well as the native in the land, when he blasphemes the name, then he shall be put to death.

He will again have compassion upon us. He will tread down our iniquities, and cast all of our sins into the depths of the sea.

Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has uttered blasphemy. What further need do we have for witnesses? See, now you have heard His blasphemy.

And behold, certain scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes.”

Therefore bear fruit worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

On a certain day, as He was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting nearby, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal the sick.

When Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered them, “Why question in your hearts?

Those who sat at supper with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is He who even forgives sins?”

The Jews answered Him, “We are not stoning You for a good work, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, claim to be God.”

Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
