Then one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.

When those who were around Him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

But Jesus said, “This is enough!” And He touched his ear and healed him.

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to God’s wrath, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine. I will repay,” says the Lord.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds,
