The pride of man will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will attain honor.

Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to His disciples,

He warned them, “Take heed. Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”

“Woe to you, Pharisees! For you love the prominent seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.

Meanwhile, when thousands of the crowd were assembled, so as to trample on one another, He began to say to His disciples first, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

When He marked how they chose the seats of honor, He told a parable to those who were invited, saying to them,

who devour widows’ houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive greater condemnation.”

Be devoted to one another with brotherly love; prefer one another in honor,

Beware of him, for he has greatly opposed our words.

I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to put himself first among them, did not accept us.
