Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me if the dead do not rise? “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

Woe to those who rise up early in the morning that they may pursue strong drink; who continue late in the evening until wine inflames them!

Woe to those who join house to house, who add field to field, until there is no more space where they may live alone in the midst of the land!

But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.

“There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.

Therefore they sacrifice to their net and burn incense to their dragnet; for by them their portion is extravagant, and their food plentiful.

Though while he lives he blesses himself — for men will praise you when you do well for yourself—

When he brought him down, behold, they were spread out over all the land, eating, drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil which they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.

There is nothing better for a person than to eat and drink, and make his life see the good in his labor. This I have seen is from the hand of God.

“Come,” they say, “let us get wine, and let us fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as today, only more so.”

you who rejoice in Lo Debar, who say, “Is it not by our own strength that we captured Karnaim?”

“Then he said, ‘This I will do: I will pull down my barns and build greater ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

The crown of the wise is their wealth, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
