The anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and He gave them into the hands of those who plundered them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies around them, so that they were no longer able to stand against their enemies.

Again the Lord became angry against Israel, and He incited David against them, saying, “Go and count the people of Israel and Judah.”

You have given us up like sheep for slaughter, and have scattered us among the nations.

You sell Your people for a low price, and do not increase Your wealth by their sale.

Who gave up Jacob as spoil, and Israel to the robbers? Did not the Lord, against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, nor were they obedient to His law.

Thus says the Lord: Where is the certificate of divorce by which I sent your mother away? Or to which of My creditors did I sell you? Behold, for your iniquities you were sold, and for your transgressions your mother was sent away.

For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you and there remained but wounded men among them, yet every man would rise up in his tent and burn this city with fire.

I will set My face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies. They that hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when none pursues you.

then I will walk contrary to you also in fury, and I Myself will chastise you seven times for your sins.

They shall fall one upon one another, as to escape before the sword, though no one pursues, and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

The anger of the Lord was inflamed against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that did evil in the eyes of the Lord was finished.

“And behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, an increase of sinful men, to increase more the burning anger of the Lord toward Israel.

The Lord will send cursing, vexation, and rebuke on you in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly because of the wickedness of your doings, by which you have forsaken Me.

The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies, and you will go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them, and will become an object of terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

If you are not careful to observe all the words of this law that are written in this book so that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, the Lord your God,

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their rock had sold them, and the Lord had given them up?

If you break the covenant of the Lord your God that He commanded you, and go and serve other gods and worship them, the anger of the Lord will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land that He gave you.”
