Judah went against the Canaanites living in Hebron (previously the name of Hebron was Kiriath-arba) and they struck down Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.

The former name of Hebron was Kiriath-arba. Arba was the greatest man among the Anakites. Then the land had rest from war.

They went up by the Negev and came to Hebron where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the sons of Anak, were (now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt).

Thus says the Lord: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, and let not the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches;

Again I observed under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to the skillful; but time and chance happen to them all.

They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had said, and he drove out the three sons of Anak.

Israel said to him, “Please go and see if it is well with your brothers and well with the flocks, and bring back word to me.” So he sent him out of the Valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

Then Joshua and all of Israel went up from Eglon to Hebron and waged war against it.

Afterwards, Judah went down to wage war against the Canaanites living in the hill country, the Negev, and the lowlands.
