“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him. And put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet.

I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandal has not worn out on your foot.

Your sandals will be iron and brass; according to your days, so shall be your strength.

This bread of ours was hot as we took it from our homes on the day we left to come to you, but now, behold, it is dry and crumbly.

These wineskins that we filled were new, and behold, they are ripped open. These clothes and sandals wore out due to the very long journey.”
