Yet to the two men who had spied out the land, Joshua said, “Enter the prostitute’s house, and bring out the woman and everyone who belongs to her, as you swore to her.”

So the king summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them. Now the Gibeonites were not from the Israelites. Instead they were a remnant of the Amorites. Although the Israelites had made a pact with them, Saul attempted to destroy them in his zeal for the people of Israel and Judah.

But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul on account of the oath of the Lord that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; he who swears against harm and does not change;

He took one of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and put him under oath. He has also taken away the mighty of the land,

As I live, says the Lord God, surely in the country of the king who made him king, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

By faith the prostitute Rahab, when she received the spies with peace, did not perish with those who did not believe.

The city and all that is in it are dedicated to the Lord for destruction. Only Rahab the prostitute may live, she, and all who are with her in her house, for she hid the messengers we sent.

So the young men who had been spies entered and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, everyone who belonged to her, and her whole extended family. They brought them out and placed them outside of the camp of Israel.

Joshua made peace with them and made a covenant with them to let them live, and the leaders of the congregation swore an oath to them.

So he showed them an entrance to the city. They struck the city with the edge of the sword, but they let the man and his extended family go.
