Joshua 5:9

The Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the disgrace of Egypt from upon you.” So the name of that place is called Gilgal even to this day.

David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying, “What will be done for the man that kills this Philistine and takes away this reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

They said to them, “We cannot do this. To give our sister to one who is uncircumcised would be a disgrace to us.

Turn away my reproach which I dread, for Your judgments are good.

Your servant slew both the lion and the bear. And this uncircumcised Philistine will be as one of them, because he has reviled the armies of the living God.”

Jonathan said to the young man bearing his armor, “Come, and let us cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. Perhaps the Lord will work for us, for the Lord is not limited to save by many or by few.”

“Now fear the Lord, and serve Him with sincerity and faithfulness. Put away the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord.

So when the entire people was completely circumcised, they stayed where they were in the camp until they healed.

He went annually in a circuit to Bethel, and Gilgal, and Mizpah. And he judged Israel in all those places.

So the king returned and came as far as the Jordan, and Judah came to Gilgal to meet the king and bring the king across the Jordan.

O My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab counseled, and what Balaam son of Beor answered him, and remember what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you might know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

I have heard these taunts of Moab, and the revilings of the Ammonites, by which they have reproached My people, and made boasts against their territory.

from Beth-gilgal, and from fields of Geba and Azmaveth, because they had built villages for themselves all around Jerusalem.

Though you play the whore, O Israel, do not let Judah offend. Do not come to Gilgal, or go up to Beth-aven, and do not swear, “As the Lord lives.”

But do not seek Bethel, and do not enter into Gilgal or cross over to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal will surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall be no more.
