Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as He taught in the temple. No one arrested Him, for His hour had not yet come.

For in their trusted offices the four main gatekeepers who were Levites had charge over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.

At that same moment Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out as against a thief to take Me with swords and clubs? Daily I sat with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me.

The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because this is the price of blood.”

Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. Many who were rich put in much.

He called His disciples to Him and said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury.

The chief priests and the scribes tried to lay their hands on Him that same hour, but they feared the people. For they perceived that He had told this parable against them.

He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts in the treasury.

Again they tried to seize Him, but He escaped from their hands.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and began teaching.

So they tried to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him, because His hour had not yet come.

Some of them wanted to arrest Him, but no one laid hands on Him.

You go up to this feast. I am not going up to this feast yet, because My time has not yet fully come.”

Early in the morning He returned to the temple. All the people came to Him, and He sat down and taught them.

Then they took up stones to throw at Him. But Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple. Going through their midst, He passed by.
