By this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believe in Him would receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

‘In the last days it shall be,’ says God, ‘that I will pour out My Spirit on all people; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.”

Fear came on everyone. And they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us!” and “God has visited His people!”

John answered them all, “I indeed baptize you with water. But One mightier than I is coming, the straps of whose shoes I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

They said, “Some say that You are John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

Turn to my rebuke; behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.

The crowds said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”

Therefore with joy you shall draw water out of the wells of salvation.

You have ascended on high, leading captives in your train; You have received gifts among men, even from the rebellious, that the Lord God might dwell there.

Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing. It is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say that He is your God.

He will glorify Me, for He will receive from Me and will declare it to you.

When Jesus spoke these words, He lifted His eyes toward heaven and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may also glorify You.

and said to them, “Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?” They said to him, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
