It was the Day of Preparation of the Passover and about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, “Behold your King!”

Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.

The next day, following the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered before Pilate,

Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.

When the evening had come, because it was the Day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour,

It was the Day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.

They said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they hit Him with their hands.

So because of the Jewish Day of Preparation, and since the tomb was nearby, they buried Jesus there.

Then Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold the Man!”
