One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of the man whose ear Peter cut off, said, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?”
Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples across the Kidron Valley. There was a garden which He and His disciples entered.
After a while those who stood by came to Peter and said, “Surely you also are one of them, for your accent betrays you.”
Truthful lips will endure forever, but a lying tongue will endure for a moment.
A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” Peter said, “Man, I am not!”
