Now because we are under obligation to the king’s palace, and it was not appropriate for us to see the king’s dishonor, therefore we have sent and notified the king,

But he said, “You are slackers! Slackers! Therefore you say, ‘Let us go and do sacrifice to the Lord.’

However, the quota of the bricks, which they were making previously, you shall lay upon them. You shall not diminish any of it, for they are idle. Therefore they cry out, saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’

“But that same servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe.’

When he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

Sell your possessions and give alms. Provide yourselves bags that do not grow old, an unfailing treasure in the heavens, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

When Jesus heard this, He said to him, “Yet you lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow Me.”

“Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not see the beam that is in your own eye?

But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said,

He said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief. And having the money box, he used to steal what was put in it.

Since Judas had the moneybox, some thought that Jesus said to him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.

Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for each of them to receive but a little.”
