Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ shall be in danger of the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be in danger of the hell of fire.

Now the feasts of the Passover and of Unleavened Bread were two days away. And the chief priests and the scribes looked for a way to seize Him secretly and kill Him.

And the chief priests and scribes were seeking how to kill Jesus, for they feared the people.

Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, that they might seize Him.

So the Pharisees said among themselves, “See, you are gaining nothing! Look, the world has followed Him!”

This, the first of His signs, Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and He revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

And a great crowd followed Him, because they saw His signs which He did for the sick.

The Pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning Him. So the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him.

Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?”

Having heard this, they entered the temple at dawn and taught. But the high priest and those who were with him came and called together the Sanhedrin and the senate of all the Israelites, and sent to the prison to have them brought out.

Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they were in doubt of what might become of this.
