Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on the rock, from the beginning of the harvest until the rains poured on them from heaven. She did not allow the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the animals of the field by night.

They interred the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the land of Benjamin at Zela, in the tomb of Kish, his father. They did everything that the king commanded. After that God was entreated regarding the land.

Elijah said to Ahab, “Get up, eat and drink, for there is a sound of a heavy rainfall.”

In the meantime, the sky turned black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode and went to Jezreel.

Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within the three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month. All the people sat on the grounds of the house of God, trembling about this matter and also because of the great rain.

For by these He judges the people; He gives food in abundance.

“Listen to this, Job; stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.

For He says to the snow, ‘Come on the earth,’ likewise to the gentle rain and to the heavy rain of His strength.

You water its furrows abundantly; You settle its ridges; You make it soft with showers; You bless its growth.

And children of Zion, exult and rejoice in the Lord your God, because He has given to you the early rain for vindication. He showers down rains for you, the early rain and the latter rain, as before.
