Take heed! Do not turn to iniquity, for you have chosen this rather than affliction.

For you said, ‘What advantage will it be to me? What profit will I have if I am cleansed from my sin?’

and He opens their ear to discipline, and commands that they turn from iniquity.

He delivers the poor in their affliction, and opens their ears in oppression.

If they are bound in chains and held in cords of affliction,

“Therefore, I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

I have hated those who regard worthless idols, but I trust in the Lord.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me;

For it is better, if it is the will of God, that you suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
