Let him who is deceived not trust in futility, for futility will be his reward.

They speak empty words, each with his own neighbor; with flattering lips and a deceitful heart they speak.

I have not sat with the worthless, nor will I consort with hypocrites.

O people, how long will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love vanity and seek after lies?    Selah

He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, but he who chases worthless pursuits lacks wisdom.

Thus says the Lord: What iniquity have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me, and have walked after vanity and have become vain?

Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have spoken vanity and seen lies, therefore I am against you, says the Lord God.

If a man, going about vapidly and deceitfully, lies, “I will preach for you wine and beer,” he would be just the preacher for this people.

“The Lord God of gods, the Lord God of gods, He knows, and may Israel know—if we have acted in rebellion or disloyalty against the Lord, do not spare us today.
