For want and famine they gnawed the parched land; fleeing into the wilderness in former time, desolate and waste.

Behold, as wild donkeys in the desert, they go out to their work, rising early for a prey. The wilderness yields food for them and for their children.

Yes, how does the strength of their hands profit me? Their vigor has perished.

Who pluck mallow by the bushes, and juniper roots for their food.

And he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the animals, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. He was given grass to eat like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and that He appoints over it whomever He wills.

The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.
