One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and secure.

They will lie down alike in the dust, and worms will cover them.

Drought and heat consume the snow waters; so the grave consumes those who have sinned.

The womb will forget him; the worm will feed sweetly on him; he will be remembered no more, and wickedness will be broken like a tree.

“The departed spirits tremble under the waters, and their inhabitants.

The underworld is naked before Him, and destruction has no covering.

Why did her knees receive me? And why her breasts that I should nurse?

There is no darkness nor shadow of death where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

And why do You not pardon my transgression and take away my iniquity? For now I will lie down in the dust; and You will seek me diligently, but I will not be.”

Whatever your hands find to do, do with your strength; for there is no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

They shall not lie with the mighty who are fallen of the uncircumcised, who have gone down to Sheol with their weapons of war and whose swords were laid under their heads. But the punishment for their iniquity rested upon their bones, though the terror of these mighty ones was once in the land of the living.
