The underworld is naked before Him, and destruction has no covering.
Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the Lord; how much more the hearts of the sons of men.
If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
Though they dig down to Sheol, from there My hand will capture them; though they climb up to the heavens, from there I will bring them down;
Destruction and Death say, ‘We have heard of its fame with our ears.’
There is no creature that is not revealed in His sight, for all things are bare and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Sheol from beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming; it stirs up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall befall me, even the night about me shall be my light.”
Will You work wonders for the dead? Shall the dead arise and praise You? Selah
Who has preceded Me that I should repay him? Everything under heaven is Mine.
It is as high as heaven; what can you do? Deeper than Sheol; what can you know?
They had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek his name is Apollyon.
For now I would be lying down and would be at peace; I would have slept; then there would be rest for me,
He who removes mountains, and they know not, who overturns them in His anger.
For it is a fire that consumes to destruction and would root out all my increase.
Have the gates of death been opened to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.
