There is no darkness nor shadow of death where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

He says in his heart, “God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will never see it.”

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall befall me, even the night about me shall be my light.”

Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence?

Behold, they bellow with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for they say, “Who hears us?”

They encourage themselves in an evil matter; they talk of laying snares secretly; they say, “Who will see them?”

They say, “How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”

Woe to those who deeply hide their counsel from the Lord and whose works are done in the dark, and they say, “Who sees us?” and “Who knows us?”

Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I do not see him? says the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? says the Lord.

Then He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his images? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us. The Lord has forsaken the land.’ ”

Then He said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city is full of perverseness, for they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see.’

Though they dig down to Sheol, from there My hand will capture them; though they climb up to the heavens, from there I will bring them down;

though they hide on the top of Carmel, from there I will search and catch them; though they hide from My sight on the bottom of the sea, from there will I command the serpent to bite them;

At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are settled on their dregs, who say in their heart, “The Lord will not do good, nor will He do evil.”
