“Listen carefully to my speech, and let this be your consolation.

Listen carefully to my speech, and to my declaration with your ears.

Hear now my reasoning, and listen to the pleadings of my lips.

Are the consolations of God too small for you? Or the word spoken gently to you?

“I have heard many such things; miserable comforters are you all!

“How long will it be until you put an end to words? Gain understanding, and afterwards we will speak.

Bear with me that I may speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.

“Therefore, Job, I pray, hear my speeches, and listen to all my words.

“Hear my words, O you wise men; and give ear unto me, you that have knowledge.

Why do you spend money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.

Therefore we should be more attentive to what we have heard, lest we drift away.

When Jotham heard this, he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim. He raised his voice and called out, saying to them, “Listen to me, leaders of Shechem, so that God may listen to you!
