For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; then I could bear it; nor is it he who hates me who has exalted himself against me; then I could hide from him.

For I said, “Hear me, lest they rejoice over me, lest, when my foot slips, they exalt themselves against me.”

Let those who rejoice at my calamity be ashamed and brought to confusion; let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who exalt themselves against me.

They answered him, “You were completely born in sin. Are you teaching us?” And they threw him out.

His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

“Thus the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.”

The Lord will deliver the tents of Judah as before, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of those dwelling in Jerusalem will not eclipse Judah.

This will they have for their pride, because they taunted and boasted against the people of the Lord of Hosts.

Do not rejoice over me, my enemy! Although I have fallen, I will rise; although I dwell in darkness, the Lord is my light.

And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, “We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel, only let us be called by your name, to take away our reproach.”

By this I know that You are well pleased with me: because my enemy does not triumph over me.

They said to me, “The remnant that returned from captivity is there in the province enduring great affliction and reproach. Also, the wall of Jerusalem remains broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.”

Now her rival provoked her greatly, making her miserable because the Lord had closed her womb.

And if indeed I have erred, my error remains with me.

But it was you, a man, my equal, my companion, and my acquaintance.
