If it pleases the king, may it be written that they are to be destroyed, and may there be ten thousand talents of silver deposited into the king’s treasuries so that I may distribute it to the hands of those doing the work.”

Haman recounted to his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise friends and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish lineage, then you will not be victorious over him. Rather, you will surely fall before him.”

Then the king said, “Hang him on it!” So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s wrath was pacified.

Then King Ahasuerus answered and demanded of Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, who would dare presume in his heart to do so?”

The trap will take him by the heel, and the snare will prevail against him.

know now that God has bent me and has surrounded me with His net.

Therefore snares are all around you, and sudden fear troubles you,

whose harvest the hungry eats up, and takes it even out of the thorns, and the thirsty captures his wealth.

Let destruction come upon him unawares, and let the net that he hid ensnare him; let him fall in it, to his destruction.

The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made; their own foot is caught in the net which they hid.

An evil man is ensnared by his sin, but a righteous man sings and rejoices.

The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is caught in the cords of his sin.

Terror and the pit and the snare are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth.

He who flees from the report of disaster shall fall into the pit, and he who comes up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth shake.

Thus says the Lord God: I will therefore spread out My net over you with a company of many peoples, and they shall bring you up in My net.

Moreover he must have a good reputation among those who are outsiders, so that he does not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful lusts, which drown men in ruin and destruction.

and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
