I was at ease, but He has shattered me. He also has taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for His target.
He rushes upon Him, even on His neck, with his thick embossed shield.
God has delivered me to the ungodly and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.
For God makes my heart soft, and the Almighty troubles me;
when His lamp shone upon my head, and when by His light I walked through darkness;
I am not at peace; I have no quiet, I cannot rest, and turmoil has come.”
The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions are broken.
For the arrows of the Almighty are within me; my spirit drinks in their poison; the terrors of God are arrayed against me.
Am I the sea, or a sea monster, that You set a guard over me?
Have I sinned? What am I doing to You, O You watcher of men? Why have You set me as Your target, so that I am a burden to myself?
For He crushes me with a storm and multiplies my wounds without cause.
Yet You have broken us in the place of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death.
Surely against me has He turned His hand continually, the whole day long.
My flesh and my skin He has made waste away; He has broken my bones;
When they took hold of you by your hand, you broke and tore all their hands. And when they leaned upon you, you broke and made all their legs shake.
Whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces. But on whomever it falls, it will crush him.”
who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I, but also all the churches of the Gentiles, give thanks.
