He frustrates the schemes of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their plans.

He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the scheme of the shrewd is swiftly stopped.

who sharpen their tongues like a sword, and aim bitter words like arrows,

Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit. One speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lies in wait.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bears what is good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bears what is evil. For of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

If anyone among you seems to be religious and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
