“I am a laughingstock to my neighbor, who calls upon God, and He answers him; the righteous, upright man is a laughingstock.

The tents of robbers are at peace, and those who provoke God are secure, into whose hand they bring their own god.

I also could speak as you do, if your soul were in my place. I could heap up words against you and shake my head at you;

“Yes, the light of the wicked will be put out, and the spark of his fire will not shine.

Does the wild donkey bray when he has grass? Or the ox bellow over his fodder?

Keep my steps in Your paths, that my footsteps may not slip.

If I should say, “My foot has slipped,” Your mercy, O  Lord, will hold me up.

The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

He who vilifies his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in deep darkness.

Give glory to the Lord your God, before He causes darkness and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and while you look for light, He turns it into the shadow of death and makes it gross darkness.

But the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps have gone out.’

And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take rest. Eat, drink, and be merry.’

Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot will slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.
