Then Zophar the Naamathite answered:

“Should a wise man reply with empty knowledge and fill his lungs with the east wind?

Will windy words have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer?

“How long will it be until you put an end to words? Gain understanding, and afterwards we will speak.

“How long will you speak these things, and the words of your mouth be like a strong wind?

Let not a slanderer be established in the land; let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

When words are many, sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.

Guard your steps when you enter the house of God. Drawing near to obey is better than the sacrifice of fools, because they do not know that they are committing evil.

For a dream comes when there is a great burden, and a foolish voice when there are many words.

Then some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, “What will this babbler say?” Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,” because he preached Jesus and the resurrection to them.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger,
