Abimelech charged all his people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”

The Lord said to the Adversary, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not stretch out your hand against his person.” So the Adversary departed from the presence of the Lord.

He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Now when the days of feasting had run their course, Job sent and sanctified them. The Lord said to the Adversary, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and an upright man, who fears God and avoids evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you moved Me against him, to destroy him without cause.”

Put forth Your hand now and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse You to Your face.”

The Lord said to the Adversary, “Very well, he is in your hand, but spare his life.”

Therefore, the Adversary went out from the presence of the Lord, and he afflicted Job with severe sores from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.

His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die.”

But now it comes upon you, and you are weary; it reaches even you, and you are terrified.

saying, “Touch not My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm!”

Therefore the anger of the Lord burns against His people, and He has stretched out His hand against them, and has stricken them, and the hills trembled. Their corpses were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this His anger is not turned away, and His hand is still stretched out.

a people who provoke Me continually to My face, presenting sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick;

They shall pass through the land hard-pressed and hungry; when they are hungry, they shall be furious and curse their king and their God as they look upward.

For thus says the Lord of Hosts: He has sent Me after glory to the nations which plunder you, for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.

Great hail, about the weight of a hundred pounds, fell from heaven upon man. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because that plague was so severe.

Men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues, and they did not repent and give Him glory.
