“Prepare war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon.” “Woe to us, for the day declines, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.”

Like a servant, he longs for the shade, and like a hired worker, he looks for his wages,

Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, turn, my lover, be like a gazelle or a young stag on rugged mountains.

Their widows will increase before Me more than the sand of the seas; I will bring against them, against the mother of a young man, a destroyer at noonday; I will suddenly bring down on her sorrow and terrors.

She who has borne seven sons languishes; she has given up the spirit; her sun has gone down while it was yet day; she has been ashamed and humiliated. And the rest of them I will deliver to the sword before their enemies, says the Lord.

Go up upon her walls and destroy, but make not a full end. Take away her battlements. For they are not the Lord’s.

“The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.”

Proclaim this among the nations: Consecrate a war! Stir up the mighty men! Let all the men of war draw near and rise.

The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom (We have heard a report from the Lord and a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying: “Rise up! Let us rise up against it for battle!”):

Thus says the Lord: Regarding the prophets who mislead My people — the ones who have something to eat proclaim “Peace,” but if one does not feed them, then they prepare for war against him.

For Gaza will be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation; Ashdod will be driven out at noon, and Ekron will be uprooted.
