Their tents and their flocks they will take away. They will carry away their curtains for themselves, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they will call out to one another, “Terror is on every side!”

Why have I seen them dismayed and drawing back? Their mighty ones are beaten down and have taken refuge in flight, and not looking back. Terror is on every side! says the Lord.

Damascus has become helpless; she has turned away to flee, and panic has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have seized her as a woman in labor.

Behold, I will bring a fear upon you, says the Lord God of Hosts, from all those who are around you; and each of you will be driven out headlong, and no one will gather together the fugitives.

Do not go out into the field, nor walk on the road. For the sword of the enemy and terror is on every side.”

I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction; the curtains of the land of Midian trembled.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

The weight of the golden earrings that he requested was one thousand seven hundred shekels of gold. This was in addition to the crescent-shaped ornaments, jewelry, and purple clothing worn by the kings of Midian, as well as the chains hanging on the necks of their camels.
