Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes. Moreover, the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.

Then she went and sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot, for she said to herself, “Let me not see the death of the child.” She sat across from him, and lifted up her voice and wept.

For how can I go up to my father if the boy is not with me, lest perhaps I see the evil that would find my father?”

Therefore, behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I am about to bring upon this place.” Then they brought the king a report.

They slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah. They bound him with bronze fetters and brought him to Babylon.

Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be brought to your grave in peace, and your eyes will not see all the disaster that I am bringing on this place and on those who dwell here.” So they returned this word to the king.

For how am I able to watch the evil that will unfold against my people? How can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?”

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be devastated and their wives ravished.

They shall call its nobles to the kingdom, but no one shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.

For thus says the Lord: Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. And they will fall by the sword of their enemies while your eyes will see it. Thus I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive into Babylon and will slay them with the sword.

Afterwards, says the Lord, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. And he will strike them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them or have pity or mercy.

And you will not escape out of his hand, but will surely be taken and delivered into his hand. And you will see the king of Babylon eye to eye, and he will speak with you face to face, and you will go to Babylon.

“So they will bring out all your wives and your children to the Chaldeans. And you will not escape out of their hand, but will be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon; and you will cause this city to be burned with fire.”

The king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; he also slew all the officials of Judah in Riblah.

They shall come against you with weapons, chariots and wagons, and with an assembly of peoples. They shall set themselves against you on every side with small and large shields and helmet. And I will set the judgment before them, and they shall judge you according to their customs.

take the choicest of the flock, and also pile the bones under it; make it boil well, also seethe its bones in it.

On the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, I will punish the officials and the king’s sons, and all who clothe themselves with foreign attire.

You will go insane because of what your eyes will see.
