Shall He reserve His anger forever? Shall He keep it to the end?” Behold, you have spoken, but you have done all the evil things that you could.

Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel so that His burning anger might turn away from us.

Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations?

Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?

For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before Me, and the souls whom I have made.

Do not be wrathful beyond measure, O  Lord, nor remember iniquity forever. Behold, look upon us, we pray, for we all are Your people.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: Return, backsliding Israel, says the Lord, and I will not cause My anger to fall on you. For I am merciful, says the Lord, and I will not keep anger forever.

Why then is this people of Jerusalem turned away by a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit; they refuse to return.

I listened and heard, but they did not speak what is right. No man repented of his wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Everyone turned to his course, as the horse rushes into the battle.

Behold, the princes of Israel in you, every one according to his power, have been bent on shedding blood.

Woe to those who conceive wickedness, to those who devise evil on their beds! At morning’s light they execute it, because it is in the power of their hand.

Both hands are upon evil, to do it well. The prince and the judge request the bribe, the powerful asserts the craving of his very soul— they intertwine together.
